Week’nder Cabin

This prefab cabin on one of the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior presented a plethora of unique building challenges. The only way to access the building site on Madeline Island, WI, was via a small vehicle and passenger ferry. For this reason, and to reduce on-site construction waste, this modern home was prefabricated in our workshop into two semi-truck bed sized “pods”, which were transported to the site, where the open plan central connector was built. With unique custom finishes like shiplap ceiling, raw plywood walls, metal window shutters, and a wood screen, the building process was exciting and challenging, and the finished product is like nothing else.
